About Me

Being an author is an amusing series of ups and downs. As a self-published writer, there are a lot of stories going on at once. A lot of stories means a lot of characters bouncing around and a lot of juggling. It's not easy being an author of fantasy in the real world, but I try to get by.

Wow

Time flies when you're having fun...

We've all heard this little ditty a time or two and said it ourselves. I always thought it was a nice way to brush someone off, not necessarily that we genuinely thought time just flew by. I know there were a few times I had used it and, believe me, I had felt every agonizing minute on that clock tick by... in slow motion.

The true adage would be that time flies when you're busy. Whether you're enjoying yourself or not, the time goes by faster if you have something to occupy it. However, if you're like me and you suddenly have too much on your metaphysical plate, you find yourself needing more hours in a day.

School is going well and I pat myself on the back there. I'm on time with my homework, have studied and read where needed... all my pretty little ducks in their pretty little row... Until we hit all the scattered ducks that belong to the rest of my crazy life. The worst part... somehow, I keep picking up more of those fucking ducks and then I have to try to find somewhere to put them. Except for those lovely lined up school ducks on the counter, I have ducks squeezed into cabinets, falling out of cupboards, scattered on the floor....

You get the idea. I haven't wrote more on my book like I planned to, I haven't exercised like I planned to, and I sure as hell haven't had any fun like I planned. Not that the things I do aren't fun, I just simply haven't done anything only to enjoy the sheer fun of it. That's it... when I come home tomorrow I'm going straight over and playing with my nephew!

As for those extra ducks... I received an invite to join a talented group of internet role players. Understanding my limited availability, I have a part time role. Because I'm so good at it, they want more. Oops. I won't say what group or what character, but I get to be the bad guy. Okay, so that fills the order of fun... We write out story scenes, interacting with each other so it kind of ties to writing and everything is planned out. So it's more on the lines of neat fun instead of crazy fun.... Crazy fun is for AFTER I graduate. LOL

As for my novel and all those characters in my head. They are still there and still frequent commentators on my life and their lives. I know how the book ends and where it needs to go... It's just finding the time to actually get it on the page without shortchanging it. My old fallback used to be work, but with the boss (grrr) lowering so much onto our shoulders to cut costs, I don't get a lot of free time there either.

As for that pesky cold I wrote about before, it's still around... it's getting better. The pressure isn't so bad and the nausea is gone (thank the Gods).... hopefully it goes away fully soon.

Holy crap, look at the time...

Rushed AND delirious, (and apparently a duck lover)
Jennifer
