About Me

Being an author is an amusing series of ups and downs. As a self-published writer, there are a lot of stories going on at once. A lot of stories means a lot of characters bouncing around and a lot of juggling. It's not easy being an author of fantasy in the real world, but I try to get by.

Nausea and Butterflies...

So, today is that final day before classes start up again and I'm swept away in ultrasound madness, homework assignments, and deadlines. *sigh*

Unfortunately today is also the day that causes me the biggest apprehension and freak out. Is everything ready? Do I have everything? ... Not to say I'm anal about things... (I am) but this semester will be especially difficult for the first five weeks. The hospital I've been assigned to is closer to my parents' house. It's winter and the snow is unpredictable around here and I was dumb enough 5 years ago to buy a car as light as a helium balloon. This particular hospital is also out in the country. Hence I decided it safer, saner, and better for my sleep habits to stay at my parent's house on clinical nights, thereby preventing a longer drive time.... and hopefully cutting down on the miles traveled will lower my chance of an accident.

See, this semester we have NO room for errors when it comes to clinicals. Clinical ends April 29th, we have a finals week and we graduate. Let me put it this way... our last final exam is the morning of May 6th... our graduation... that night. See, no room for make ups or running around trying to gather things. Not to mention clinical paperwork is actually due May 2nd.

So, I'm putting together school things to be ready for classes tomorrow and then I have to pack what I need for my parents' house Monday through Thursday night. It's going to be a full trunk. I guess I'm basically living out of my car for the next few weeks. I'm hoping it will all be worth it and I'll have no problems this semester... -knocks on wood-... I'm also hoping I've done enough work in advance that I can stay on track and still have time to write.

For now, it's back to assembly and packing. I have to go to the store later. I've decided it'll be easier to buy multiples of bathroom supplies and just leave a set at the parents than trying to remember to grab them. You know how it goes, you always forget the bathroom stuff... that's why hotels always have a plethora of bathroom supplies available. Hmmm... "plethora"... coffee is finally kicking in, yay.

So, probably no writing today. Instead I'll be buried in piles of books, clothes, and bathroom supplies... Fun, fun, fun... I know, you can just hear the excitement in my voice can't you....

My hope is that tomorrow's am classes are just an introduction and I'll have a longer lunch break to write during. I know from the syllabus our afternoon instructor is going to get right into things. Oh joy.... Welcome back, here's what I expect... now let's do three chapters of physics... (insert sounds of students falling off chairs here) yuck... I can get through ultrasound physics but it's definitely not my favorite part. Then again, neither is OB/Gyn which is our entire focus this semester.

I should buy a journal to jot notes about writing in when I'm bored in class... (adds to shopping list) Well, I'll see you all later...

Eating Tums and Praying things go smoothly,
Jennifer
