About Me

My photo
Being an author is an amusing series of ups and downs. As a self-published writer, there are a lot of stories going on at once. A lot of stories means a lot of characters bouncing around and a lot of juggling. It's not easy being an author of fantasy in the real world, but I try to get by.

FAQ

What's so funny about deciding to become a writer?
Well, anyone can and does write. I wish I could say I was an author and technically I can since I have works out there for purchase.... but... The funniest part about becoming a writer is that, for the most part, it's not the only thing you can do. Until you hit the big time, you can't just say 'All I will do is write'. You have to prioritize your writing. I have to work to pay the bills and I'd rather eat than finish that last chapter... it takes time away from writing.

How do you categorize yourself?
Simple answer, I don't. To categorize myself is to stick myself in this little folder and limit what I can do. Since I don't know what all I can do yet, why limit myself before I start. I write what I feel like writing. I will say that I like to think of it as writing for fun and then putting it out there for others to enjoy.

Why are your available books so expensive?
That's a two part answer. The first part is that I self-publish. This keeps me from arguing with anyone else about deadlines and content. It also means that anyone purchasing a book will have to cover the expense of the book being made. You order it, they build it. The second part, with regards to book one, is the Amazon markup. When creating the files, I had no idea that Amazon would add and pocket about $15 for the paperback and $5 for the ebook. Highway robbery but it's way too complicated to try to opt out of. I also only make a little over $1 whether you buy the paperback or the ebook.

So, why have Free Reads?

Free reads here on my blog are to help the reader understand my writing style. Especially before you shell out money for my available books. It also helps a reader see the range of writing styles I do. Plus, it's just fun.

What got you started in writing?
I've been writing forever. I always had stories in my head and one day started putting them on paper. When I was younger, I very rarely finished pieces and I wish I still had all those writings. With the Tuatha Destiny series, the first chapter would not stop playing in my mind. It drove me nuts! I started writing it down and hit 20 computer pages the first night. It was not going to be a short story.
I wanted to share it with my close friends and then other people wanted to read it. Rather than mailing out copies to everyone, I put it online. I never expected the buzz to pass on. (I should have) I guess I'm the accidental author.

What is your biggest regret?
I don't believe in regrets. Sometimes I wish I had spent more time writing Destiny Calling and Destiny Found as if I was putting them out for publication. But, to be honest, I love the way they read. They may not be your typical styles and, sure, they have loads of typos... I still really love them as is. I also regret not being able to finish Destiny Fulfilled before all the shit hit the fan. It's taking me forever to polish off what should be the last five chapters. But I will get it done.

What would you like to tell people?
First off, I am NOT crazy. When I talk to or with the characters in my head, I know it's fiction. It's just how my writing 'process' works. Many other authors work the same way. Secondly, I do write/work differently and it's one of the many reasons I've decided NOT to seek out a publisher.
Also, I am a friendly person. If you have questions or comments, don't feel afraid to seek me out through this blog or through my facebook page. However, that being said, I don't do drama or stalkers and I highly value respect.
