So my boyfriend just bought a country property. It's almost too good to be true. Everything we ever talked about wanting, it already has. And, yes, he officially asked me to move in with him which means I can empty my storage shed and my parents' house.
-Interrupt for a girly moment: My stuff will be sooo cute in the old farmhouse!-
Okay, so we're not married or engaged. We really don't need to be. Some of our friends already jokingly call us husband and wife. Well, it's pretty much true and it's all that matters. It's evident in the little things, like taking me for a walk-thru of the house and me telling him I love it and him saying "then I'll bid on it". We got it for a steal at auction.
There's a million places I'll be able to write out there and maybe gain some inspiration. Although as far as the pond is concerned, someone still really needs to invent that floating waterproof laptop I keep asking for. After he won I just sat up on the beach area -it needs new sand, got overgrown, easy peasy fix- and just looked out over the countryside. Yes, for you city folk, I sat in the grass -God forbid-... but the wind was blowing through my hair, the sun was shining, the world was quiet. It reminded me of days when I was young living in the country at my Granny's house with my family. Yep, I felt like I was home and I think Mike felt it too next to me.
The people out there are wonderful! We met more neighbors and collected more names and numbers in a few hours than we did in four years of living in the city. I'm fond of saying life moves slower in the country and I really think that's true. Probably because you have time and space to do just what I did by the pond, close your eyes and take it all in.
It will be hard work of course, but there's one thing my parents made sure I learned. Hard work makes the rewards all the sweeter and you'll appreciate what you have more for working hard to get it. :D
I guess we'll call it today's life lesson and move on to the countless stuff I have yet to do. Have to work on Finders Keepers with Danielle Gavan -If you haven't looked up and read her stuff, get your ass moving!- work on revisions for Tuatha Destiny, and a new novel I'm writing.
Oh yeah, and did I mention start organizing, planning, and packing! If you don't see me often the next two months, I was kidnapped by the chaos of moving and getting our country homestead in order. Cross your fingers that nothing goes wrong. We both keep waiting for the bad news. LOL
Follow author Jennifer Feuerstein through the trials and fun of writing. I'll be discussing my books, my future plans, and the fun of dealing with an entire cast of characters living "upstairs" while moving through life. Welcome to the ramblings of The Crowded Mind.
About Me
- Jennifer Feuerstein
- Being an author is an amusing series of ups and downs. As a self-published writer, there are a lot of stories going on at once. A lot of stories means a lot of characters bouncing around and a lot of juggling. It's not easy being an author of fantasy in the real world, but I try to get by.
